Set of 2 original vintage stamps from the Europa CEPT – Folklore series, issued in 1981. Designed by Thomaz de Mello (TOM), one of the most influential Portuguese illustrators and designers of the 20th century, and printed by Litografia Maia, they celebrate Portuguese popular heritage through strong colours, traditional figures and an unmistakable graphic language. Some travel to get to know a country. These stamps do the job in a few square centimetres.

TOM's style achieves a rare balance between the popular and the modern. Forty years later, it still looks surprisingly contemporary.
